Public Schools

Myrtle Beach’s public education needs are served by Horry County Schools. Horry County Schools currently serves over 37,000 students from nine areas of attendance, making Horry County Schools the third largest amount South Carolina’s 85 school districts. Horry County Schools is made up of 51 schools ranging from elementary to high school, as well as several academies, charter schools, and an alternative school. Elementary Schools

Horry County Schools has 26 elementary schools. The majority of these have child development and kindergarten classes and grades 1 - 5. The exceptions include Green Sea Floyds Elementary School which also includes grade 6 and the schools in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. In these attendance areas, the primary schools are child development, kindergarten, and grade 1. The elementary schools are grades 2 - 3, and the intermediate schools are grades 4 - 5.

Horry County Schools has ten middle schools.
